It was just as you enter the snow biome, just don't remember the exact location. I live near the peninsula we both went west, then turned north following the coastline. You want to still have the campfire and torches near the tiller, for extra warmth, but you should be able to handle the cold well enough to be able to get crystals and some pearls.ĭon't know the coordinates, my son went there first and I have traveled there once. You could consider that and I think it will keep you warm enough so you can be in the north snow biome and not freeze to death. I put a foundation on my raft some pillars and built half a "roof" to put a small cabin and a bed inside and a fireplace just over-top where the tiller is at although I haven't tried it yet. Not to say they aren't there, but you can stay close enough to shore that you can get out quick enough so you won't become a snack. There is also a small area nearby, don't remember exactly where, that along the shoreline you can get into the water and get pearls pretty much without having to worry about the megladons. Have plenty of cooked meat and berries (for water) in your inventory.

You can dash onto the ice and collect some crystals, dash back unload into storage chests and warm up, dash back and get some more, hurry back to unload and warm up. That way you will stay warm enough to not freeze. My suggestion is that you build a cabin on your raft and have at the least a campfire and several torches near the tiller and one in the cabin. If you have a raft you can head north, following the coast line (my base is in the south, almost the middle of that area, near the peninsula) so I head west, then north.Īnyhow, head up north and not too far in the snow biome there is a section that has crystals and no dinos in that small area. I'm going to make a guess that you are playing on the ARK Island and not the Center map. So be careful! The safest bet is the volcano to the west (just south of the snow biome) since, in my experience, there's no animals there and TONS of crystal/obsidian/metal, but there's a lot of angry animals on the way up, so if you don't fly in, it could be a battle. I've died, losing crystals and animals because I thought I could outrun them. If you see them close to a node, just leave. Lastly, the two mountains in the northeast (top right) are very rich in crystal, but often have Gigas up there. I strongly reccomend using a flyer to fly up there (if you don't have an ankylo) since its fast and safe, but crystal is heavy, 1 pound per crystal, so be prepared for that. That being said, ankylos can't fit into caves Even with a metal pick I can get nothing but stone from a crystal node! Ankylos often get 6-12 crystal from a single node. Ankylos are very, very slow, but they're tough, have good knockback, and harvest crystals WAY better than your pick can. The best thing you can do is ride an anklyo to them. It's not pictured on that map, but from that point, just to the northeast (southeast of the mountain in what will soon be the redwood biome) there's another tiny hill with crystals on top, again, easy to get to with a raptor or two at worst.

There's occasionally a raptor or two, and very rarely a carno, so it's usually very safe. Its a small hill, barely a mountain, that you can easily walk up. No problem! And for that you'll want my favorite crystal location, it's (if you look at the map) the little dot at the bottom middle of the southern isles.

A last question: which of these areas have weaker creatures? I am not a very good fighter. Thank you very much for these good hints.
